Bonnie Friedman

Author: 'Hospital Warrior: How to Get the Best Care for Your Loved One'

Bonnie Friedman, author of Hospital Warrior: How to Get the Best Care for Your Loved One, is passionate about hospital healthcare. Her expertise is hard-won, based on more than 24 years of advocating for her husband through 14 separate hospitalizations–some fairly routine, some quite dramatic and some truly life-and-death experiences.

Today her husband is thriving, and Bonnie Friedman is sharing her experience through blogging, speaking and writing to help others get the best care for their loved ones too.

Before writing Hospital Warrior, she started her own communications consulting firm, specializing in public, non-profit and small business clients. The consultancy grew from her many years working for the federal government in a variety of positions including Communications Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Marketing Director of the Small Business Administration. She began her career at the National Institutes of Health after graduating from American University in Washington, DC.

Bonnie is an accomplished public speaker and blogger and is available for interviews, book talks, speaking engagements and seminars.

She and her husband Bob have two grown children. They enjoy traveling, spending time with family and going to the beach.

Chris MacLellan

Author: 'What's the Deal with Caregiving'

You might know me as “The Bow Tie Guy.”

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, I am the youngest of six children. I know I got my “care gene” from my four older sisters and brother. I’ve been proud to be one of the over 44.5 million family Caregivers in the United States. Now I am learning to adjust to life after Caregiving.

Our Caregiving story with my late partner, Bernard Richard Schiffer, called “In Sickness and In Health: A Couple’s Final Journey” was written by Diane C. Lade, photography and videography by Carline Jean featured in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in April 2014, nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2015 and has been seen by over 400, 000 people worldwide. The electronic version of the story is available at http://interactive.sun-sentinel.com/lgbt-dyingcouple/. You can also find the links to all three stories on my blog, http://www.thpurplejacket.com/.

I started blogging about my partner’s illness in April of 2011 and through my blog, “The Purple Jacket.com,” Richard – 108 – and I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people along our Caregiving journey who I still call friends today. Richard always loved it when a message from one of our friends simply asked, “How’s TLO doing!” We were fortunate to have our story told through the Sun-Sentinel.

Now that our Caregiving journey has ended, let the “Healing Ties” begin. My radio show “Healing Ties” can be heard on iHeart Radio and UK Health Radio.com. Some of my featured guests have been:

• Gail Gibson Hunt, President of the National Alliance for Caregivers

• AARP’s Caregiving expert Amy Goyer

• Toula Wooten from “Toula’s Tips For Caregiving”

• Author Joni Aldrich

• National Caregiving expert and author, Denise Brown from Caregiving.com

• Matt Paxton from A&E “Hoarders”

• The Fearless Caregiver, Gary Barg, from “Today’s Caregivers” Magazine.

For a list of all our guests, and to listen to our podcasts and live show, visit HealingTies.com Everyone has a story, but not everyone gets a chance to share their story with others. Would you like to share your story on Healing Ties radio? Just email me at TheBowTieGuy@HealingTies.com

Judy Ryan

Author:

Judy Ryan has been owner of LifeWork Systems, an award-winning training and consulting company specializing in cooperative practices since 2002. Judy is a consultant, trainer, writer, coach, and presenter, with guest appearances on TV and radio. She writes two columns, one on Emotional Intelligence published nationally in the Women’s Journal since 2006.  The other, Your Extraordinary Workplace has been published locally in the St. Louis Small Business Monthly since 2012.   People hire Judy Ryan and LifeWork Systems because they want to fully experience the joy and vitality that can be realized through a purpose-driven workplace culture where excellence in achievement is accomplished and celebrated. They know that conscientious employees keep customers happy, help grow your business and keep your reputation positive. Judy Ryan and her team assists organizations in establishing collaborating rings of alignment in values, vision, goals and objectives among its leaders, workers and stakeholders. When Beethoven saw a piano, he saw a symphony. When Judy Ryan meets people, she sees the unseen beauty and truth beneath the surface and uncovers it. And that truth – the one that’s really happening under the surface – is what we all need to see. We need this because the old ways of understanding human systems are not working anymore – the way of superior versus inferior or management versus employee or parent versus child. They never did. And now we need new systems that create equality and reveal the courageous people we really are. And that’s what Judy Ryan provides. Judy’s purpose is to create a world in which all people love their lives. She and her team translate theory into actionable, concrete realities. She provides a new language that relies on your intuition, pushes past your shame and allows you to step into a powerful future.
